Căuaş is part of the „Carei and Ier Plains” Rural Association micro region. From the 15th century the Alexander Károlyi family owned a part of the village. The painter Aurel Popp (1879–1960) was born in Căuaş, and in Micentiu, a village that is part of this commune was born the great Hungarian poet, Ady Endre. The locality is located in a plain region; therefore the most important source of income for the local people has remained the agriculture.
